For your first haul, limit yourself to 5-8 items. This gives you enough variety to experience different categories without overwhelming yourself with tracking numbers, QC photos, and potential issues. As you gain experience, you can scale to 15+ item mega-hauls.
Category Strategy
Different categories have different risk-reward profiles:
- Shoes: Highest QC availability, most competitive pricing, but highest return rate if sizing is wrong. Always size up 0.5 for sneakers.
- Hoodies & Sweaters: Low risk, consistent quality across mid-tier sellers. Focus on material weight (350gsm+ for premium feel).
- T-Shirts: Lowest price point, easiest entry category. Print quality varies wildly — QC is essential.
- Jackets: Higher price but excellent value. Puffer jackets at $40-60 often match $200+ retail quality.
- Accessories: Socks, belts, and caps are impulse buys that round out hauls. Low individual cost but add shipping weight.
Price Comparison Tactics
Never buy the first listing you see. The same item is often listed by multiple sellers at different price points. Use the spreadsheet's price column as a baseline, then search the item name across multiple sheets to find the lowest reliable price.
Be suspicious of prices significantly below the spreadsheet average. A $15 hoodie when the average is $28 might indicate a different, lower-quality batch. Conversely, the highest price doesn't guarantee the best quality — you are often paying for seller reputation rather than product superiority.
Seller Vetting Checklist
Before committing to a new seller, run through this quick vetting process: Check their store rating (aim for 4.5+), review recent customer photos in the store's photo section, search the seller name in community Discords for red flags, verify they accept returns or exchanges, and check estimated processing time. Sellers who ship within 3 days are significantly better than those with 2-week processing windows.
